literacy evaluations & learning plans for students

Designed to help children thrive at home, in school, and beyond.

What is Literacy?

Literacy isn’t just reading — it’s the ability to read, write, and understand language in a way that helps kids learn and communicate every day. From recognizing letters and sounds to writing sentences and sharing ideas, strong literacy skills are the foundation for confidence in every subject.

I believe that every child deserves the chance to become a confident, capable reader and writer.

Whether your child is just beginning their literacy journey or struggling to keep up, I provide meaningful, personalized literacy evaluations and clear, actionable plans to support their growth.

My approach is simple but powerful:
I meet each child exactly where they are, identify the gaps, and create an individualized intervention plan that works for families, teachers, and homeschool communities.

Kind Words from Parents

Working with Tricia has been such a gift. She didn’t just run through a checklist; she took the time to really see my son, notice his strengths, and gently uncover where he was getting stuck. For the first time, I felt like someone truly understood how he learns.

What stood out most is how practical and encouraging she is. Instead of overwhelming me with technical language, she explained things in a way I could understand and gave us clear, doable strategies to try at home. She showed us how to make learning hands-on and playful, which has made such a difference.

If you’re a parent who feels worried, confused, or unsure where to turn, I can’t recommend Tricia enough. She brings both expertise and heart, and she gives you real hope that your child can thrive with learning.

Here’s how we’ll work together

Book Your Evaluation

We start with an intake call to learn about your child's strengths, challenges, and goals so we can create a customized learning learning plan that supports meaningful progress. I’ll go over my approach and answer any questions you might have!

Screening

This will include a 60-90 minute visit with your child using all researched based tools to assess reading and writing. This means we'll learn about things like phonological awareness, decoding, phonics, fluency, comprehension and your child's writing skills.

Debrief & Plan

You’ll receive a meaningful report highlighting “characteristics consistent with” your child’s strengths and challenges. We’ll walk through an intervention plan, resources, and next steps together.

I’ll provide you clarity, direction, and a plan you can feel confident in.

Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.

Strong reading and writing skills open the door to every subject and every opportunity.

When a child struggles with literacy, it can impact their confidence, their school performance, and even how they see themselves. With the right support, children can move from frustration to confidence. And that change ripples into every part of their learning.

Who This Is For

✔ Parents who want to understand their child’s literacy strengths and struggles.

✔ Families seeking actionable, practical strategies to support reading and writing at home.

✔ Homeschool communities looking for professional support during the school day.

✔ Teachers and interventionists who value clear, supportive reports they can use in the classroom.

Who This Is Not For

✘ Families looking for a “quick fix” – literacy growth takes time and consistency.

✘ Parents who want a clinical diagnosis. (Here, the focus is on educational support, not medical labels.)

✘ Those who are not ready to partner in their child’s literacy journey at home.

✘ Families expecting overnight results — building literacy takes patience and steady progress.

Hi, I’m Tricia!

I’m a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist based in the Sherwood, Oregon area with special training in Orton-Gillingham — a proven, structured approach to helping children with reading.

What makes my approach unique is that I bring together two different certifications that are rarely combined in the field. Most speech-language pathologists focus on one or the other; I integrate both, giving children a well-rounded path toward literacy growth. That means I’m able to look at literacy from multiple angles and create plans that are practical, clear, and effective.

If you’ve looked into literacy support before, you may have seen that most dyslexia evaluations cost thousands of dollars. Those reports can sometimes help with getting a diagnosis, but they don’t always tell you what to actually do with your child day to day. That’s where I come in.

Instead of long, clinical evaluations, I provide informal — but meaningful — screenings. These are affordable, easy to understand, and most importantly, they show you exactly where your child needs support and how to move forward. I write my reports for both parents and teachers so everyone is on the same page and has a clear, doable plan to follow.

I know how overwhelming it can feel when your child is struggling. You want answers, but you also want hope, and that’s what I aim to give you. I work mainly with students in grades K-8, meeting them where they are and helping them take the next steps toward confident reading and writing.

My goal is simple: to give families clarity, encouragement, and real tools that make a difference in everyday life, because I believe literacy is not a privilege – it’s a right.

My Training Includes:

  • Orton-Gillingham

  • LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling)

  • Lindamood Bell LiPS

  • Reading Horizons

  • Structured Word Inquiry
